An Intimate Look at Acadia National Park

An Intimate Look At Acadia National Park, at two-and-a-half hours in length, is perfect to get you acquainted with the beauty of our park and includes two photo/browsing stops at  Thunder Hole and the summit of Cadillac Mountain, as well as several stops at scenic overlooks along the way.

After a drive through historic downtown Bar Harbor, we’ll enter Acadia at the Sieur de Monts Springs entrance and will proceed onto the 27-mile-long Park Loop Road. Our vehicle will be a 14-passenger executive coach.

We’ll traverse this oceanfront/parkland drive at a leisurely pace, passing such landmarks as The Precipice and Sand Beach as we approach the drop-dead-gorgeous Ocean Drive section of the loop.  Our first scheduled stop will come at Thunder Hole, a chasm in the granite which, under the right conditions, can produce high waves and booming sounds.  We’ll have a few minutes to explore and take photos, and after re-boarding our executive coach, we’ll make our way past 107-foot-high Otter Cliffs and through the birch-dominated forest landscape to Jordan Pond, a glacial lake nestled among the mountains of Acadia.  Along the way, we’ll pause at several overlooks for photos and your guide will continually be available for question-and-answer sessions.

We’ll make our way to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the eastern seaboard of North America.  The 360-degree views are stunning and Cadillac offers one of the most spectacular vistas anywhere in the national park system.  We’ll take in the view from several vantage points before descending the famous summit road to return to Bar Harbor.  Passing some of the century-old “cottages” of the rich and famous, our guide will regale you with tales of lavish lifestyles.

During the trip, we’ll be happy to stop at any point for additional photos or leg-stretching, or simply to enjoy the unparalleled views of Acadia and the Maine coast.  Restrooms are available on the summit of Cadillac Mountain.

Price is $855 for up to 14 passengers in our executive coach and includes Acadia National Park fees. Reservations are needed, and you can book by emailing our booking agent, Glenn, at glenn@acadiafun.com

Acadia the Magnificent

Our Acadia The Magnificent tour (four hours) will give you a terrific snapshot of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island, including three photo/browsing stops at spectacular locales throughout the park and island.  After a drive through historic downtown Bar Harbor, we’ll enter Acadia at the Sieur de Monts Springs entrance and will proceed onto the 22-mile-long Park Loop Road. This tour is conducted in a 14-passenger executive coach.

We’ll have a few minutes to explore and take photos, and after reboarding our coach, we’ll make our way past 107-foot high Otter Cliffs and through the birch-dominated forest landscape to Jordan Pond, a glacial lake nestled among the mountains of Acadia.  Along the way, we’ll pause at several overlooks for photos and your guide will continually be available for question-and-answer sessions.

We’ll also make a stop at Jordan Pond, where you’ll have a chance to see this lovely glacial pond and the iconic twin mountains, called the Bubbles, on the north shores of the pond.

We’ll leave the park for a few miles to follow a fascinating route which will take us through Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor, the last two bastions of old-money Victorian wealth on Mount Desert Island, and along the shores of Somes Sound, the only fjord on the east coast of North America.  We’ll pass a private church built a hundred years ago by Edsel Ford for his Irish Catholic corps of servants; it’s now owned by TV personality Martha Stewart.  Then we’ll proceed past Little Long Pond, where John D. Rockefeller’s massive 100-room mansion once stood, before meandering through Northeast Harbor, home of dozens of elegant summer cottages which have been passed down through generations. We’ll motor past the “Northeast Harbor Fleet,” the village’s yacht club, and explore the magnificent Sargent Drive, which skirts Somes Sound, North American’s only fjord (a fjord is a narrow, glacially-carved canyon filled with sea water).

We’ll then re-enter Acadia National Park, making our way to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the eastern seaboard of North America.  The 360-degree views are stunning and Cadillac offers one of the most spectacular vistas anywhere in the national park system.  We’ll take in the view from several vantage points before descending the famous summit road to make our way back to Bar Harbor.

During the trip, we’ll be happy to stop at any point for additional photos or leg-stretching, or simply to enjoy the unparalleled views of Acadia and the Maine coast.  Restrooms are available on the summit of Cadillac.

Price is $989 for up to 14 passengers in our executive coach and includes Acadia National Park fees. Reservations are needed, and you can book by emailing our booking agent, Glenn, at glenn@acadiafun.com

Cadillac Mountain Vista

Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on the east coast of North America, is Acadia National Park’s premier destination and one we are proud to show you.  The sweeping vistas from the summit of Cadillac Mountain will take your breath away as you gaze across Frenchman Bay and the outer islands which surround Acadia.

On many days of the year, Cadillac is the first place in the United States to receive the rays of the sun, and from first light until the sun slips down on the western horizon, it provides unparalleled views of Frenchman Bay and the legendary coastline of Down East Maine.

While some tour companies limit their Cadillac Mountain tour to an hour, we provide 90 minutes, so there’s plenty of time to roam the summit and see the view from each direction.  Which will be your favorite? Gazing east towards Canada, looking south across the Cranberry Islands, peering west over Blue Hill Bay or seeing mile after mile of wilderness forest to the north?  All the views are gorgeous, and our tour will give you time to soak all of them in.

We’ll take in the view from several vantage points before descending the famous summit road to return to Bar Harbor.  Passing some of the century-old “cottages” of the rich and famous, our guide will regale you with tales of the lavish lifestyles of the robber barons.

This tour is conducted in either a 14-passenger executive coach or a 25-passenger mid-sized coach.

Price is $711 for up to 14 passengers in our executive coach and includesAcadia National Park fees. Reservations are needed, and you can book by emailing our booking agent, Glenn, at glenn@acadiafun.com
